L. Wilmont "Monty" Watson, 89, of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, November 30, 2013, in Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, Moline, with The Reverend Florene Scott officiating. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.
Lewis Wilmont Watson was born October 12, 1924, in Alexis, Illinois, to John Lewis and Helen Esther Sims Watson. He married Ruth Hastings on March 23, 1946, in Monmouth, Illinois. He was a scale technician for Fairbanks-Morse Scale Company for 27 years, retiring in 1987. After retirement, he worked for Avis Car Rental and Sears Roebuck. He was a member of Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, Quad City Computer Society, and Blackhawk Genealogical Society. He enjoyed bowling and genealogy.
Monty is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Ed Lawson of Coal Valley, Illinois, and Dianna and Jerry Biernat of Plainfield, Illinois; five grandchildren, Erica Battin and her husband Denzil; Jeff Lawson and his fiancée Michelle Skinner, Sarah Mette and her husband Kyle, Lisa Biernat and her boyfriend Shawn Smith, and Felicia Biernat and her fiancé Jon Penkala; and nine great-grandchildren.
