Wilma J. "Winnee" Wright

Wilma J. "Winnee" Wright, 71, of Bettendorf, Iowa, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, December 28, 2017, surrounded by family.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Word of Life Church, Rock Island, with Rev. Dupree Logan officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, following services, with Trimble Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Heart of Hope Ministries.

Wilma J. Sanders was born May 23, 1946, in Indianola, Mississippi, to Henry Veal and Ella Pearl Brown. She was a cosmetologist, owning and operating Winnee's Personal Touch and Divine Images, both in Rock Island. She loved her job and her clients.

She was active in Heart of Hope Ministries. She enjoyed fishing, and sharing the love of Christ with anyone she encountered. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family.

Winnee is survived by her father, Henry Veal of Chicago; four children, Tammy Holloway, Lisa Wright-Hoskins, and Kristin (Roosevelt Knight, Jr.) Wright, all of Bettendorf, and Royce (Missy Whitfield) Wright of Rock Island; many beloved "bonus" children; an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Johnny (Clotel) Sanders of Waterloo, and Katherine Wright, Mary Jackson, and Lawrence (Beverly) Veal, all of Chicago; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her four-legged child, Elvis. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ella Holloway; her ex-husband, and true love of Winnee's life, Charles "Cracky" Roberson; and two grandsons, Christopher Hoskins and James Wright.
