Wilma H. Anderson, 85, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, August 4, 2007, in Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at First Evangelical Free Church, Moline, with The Reverend Tom Aubrey officiating. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church, where she was a member.
The former Wilma Linnea Helstrom was born October 9, 1921, in Moline, the daughter of William and Marie (Carlsward) Helstrom. She married Milton Anderson on December 26, 1941, in Silvis, Illinois. She was secretary to C. R. Evans, president of George Evans Corporation, for 12 years, retiring in 1980. She previously was a secretary at the Y.W.C.A., Director of the Junior Red Cross for the American Red Cross, and Director of the Women?s Division of the former Moline Community Chest. She did china painting and was a chalk artist. She gave ?chalk talk? programs throughout the region with her sister Violet, especially at Christmas, Easter, and Mothers Day.
Wilma is survived by her husband of 65 years, Milt; three sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Gail Anderson of Lake Forest, Illinois, Craig and Bridget Anderson of Burr Ridge, Illinois, and J. Brent and Joy Anderson of Moline; ten grandchildren, Jennifer, Brian, and Blake Anderson, Joshua Anderson and his wife Lisa, Kirkland Anderson, Scott Anderson and his wife Robin Stilwell, Melissa Rhea and her husband Phil, Marcus Anderson and his wife Adrienne, and Lindsey and Rebecca Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Madison, Emma and Katie Rhea; and sisters, Violet Nelson of Moline, Virginia Hillary of Essex Junction, Vermont, June Scent of Vero Beach, Florida, and Ruth Nuss of Moline. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael, and brothers, Carl, Walter and Walfrid Helstrom.
