William R. "Bob" Schwartz, Jr., 75, of East Moline, Illinois, died Monday, February 24, 2014, in Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis, Illinois.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend Dr. Joe Gardner officiating. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, where Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Rock Island County Animal Care Center or Diabetes Foundation.
William Robert Schwartz was born June 12, 1938, in Bloomington, Illinois, to Oleta Faye (Hainline) and William Robert Schwartz, Sr. He served in the U. S. Army from 1955 to 1959, and married Mary Lou Waldman on December 29, 1962, in Moline. He was construction manager for Indeco Inc., Bettendorf, Iowa, for 22 years, retiring in 2003.
Bob was 60-year member of National Operating Engineers Local #150, a member of Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline, and National Rifle Association, and an Eagle Scout. He loved his dog, Lobo, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, drag racing at Cordova, and his Indian Scout motorcycle.
Bob is survived by his wife, Lou; two daughters, Susan Smith and her husband Charley, and Kathryn Salinas-Schwartz and her husband Edwar, all of East Moline; two grandsons, Jacob Schwartz and Justin Tallman; a brother Paul Schwartz and his wife, Barb, of Moline; three nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister-in-law, Judy Schwartz.
