William R. “Butch” Johnson, 66, of East Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis, Illinois.
Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post #227 will present military honors. Those wishing to attend should meet in the parking lot at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, at 1:45 p.m.. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home.
William Roy Johnson was born August 2, 1955, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Howard E. and Rosemary (Burkert) Johnson. He married Lori Lovell, with whom he had two children before divorcing. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1975 until 1980.
Butch enjoyed working on all kinds of projects (even if he didn’t finish them all). He loved tinkering with things, playing video games, and landscaping. Above all else, family was the most important thing to him, especially his granddaughters.
Butch is survived by a son, Howard Johnson of East Moline; a daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Bryan Feehan of Cambridge, Illinois; two granddaughters, Hunter and Gunner Feehan; siblings, Kathleen (John Palm) Willard, Sherrie (Ed) Fuhl, Kenneth (Alice) Johnson, Jack Johnson, Jay Johnson, and Tom Johnson, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
