William R. Platt, 49 of Davenport, Iowa passed away April 7, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport, following a long battle with Chronic Kidney Disease.
No memorial services will be held per Bill's wishes, but a celebration of life will be held in the near future for Bill's family and close friends. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. In lieu of flowers please donate to the National Kidney Foundation.
Bill was born September 29, 1974 in Moline, the son of Larry and Diane (Martin) Platt. He lived in many areas during his lifetime, but called Davenport home for the past thirty years. Bill worked as a machine operator most of his life until his health deteriorated to the point he could not work any longer. Bill had a heart of gold and would help anyone that he could.
Bill was an avid race car fan. He drove stock cars many years when he was younger and still helped out in the pits when he could . He even enjoyed helping his friends in the pits with their go carts during the past few years. During the off-season he enjoyed live hockey games.
Survivors include his brother, Marvin (Erika) Platt of Davenport, Iowa; sister, Rebecca (TJ Slater) Ladd of Davenport; children, Dion (Robin Ryan) Jenkins of Woodbridge, Virginia, and Elizabeth Wurzer of Davenport; nephews, Eric Platt of Davenport, Kodi (Ashley) Platt of Rock Island, Illinois, and Devin Ladd-Slater of Davenport; nieces, Serena Ladd-Slater of Davenport, Lilliann Ladd-Slater of Davenport, and Aria and Freya Platt of Moline; and grandchildren, Reveille and Leo Ryan of Woodbridge.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Diane Platt; grandparents, Emerson and Shirley Platt, and Ray and Lucy Martin.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at Davida Kidney Center; Trinity Hospital; Genesis Hospital; and The University of Iowa Hospital for their compassion over the past several years, while Bill was undergoing treatment. The family would also like to give a special thank you to Clint Bartosch for all his help and support for Bill and also Mike Devol, as they were both like family to Bill.
