William Wilson, 81, of Sherrard, Illinois, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010, in his home.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Jim DeBisschop officiating. Burial is in St. Mary?s Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to the church, where he was a member, or to the Alleman wrestling program. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, is assisting the family.

William James Wilson was born April 2, 1929, in Hurdland, Missouri, the son of Alphonsus and Clema (Wensel) Wilson. He married Shirley Leffler on August 12, 1950, in Rock Island.

Bill worked for John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline for over 26 years, retiring in 1986 as a Manufacturing Superintendent.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley; children, Patty and Gary Buckwalter of Milan, Illinois, William A. Wilson and David Wilson, both of Rock Island, Illinois, Karen Hudson of Lone Tree, Iowa, Theresa Flynn of Milan, John and Jill Wilson of Sherrard, Mary Wilson of Atlanta, Georgia, Joseph and Annie Wilson of Valparaiso, Indiana, Kathleen and Paul Baughman of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, and Matthew Wilson of Chicago; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, and a son-in-law, Larry Flynn.
