William Hansen

William Hansen, 90, of East Moline, Illinois, formerly of Moline, died Saturday, May 12, 2018, in Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with visitation one hour before the funeral. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery where American Legion Post #226 and Patriot Guard Riders will present military honors.

Bill was born July 20, 1927, in Dixon, Illinois, to William and Lenora Miller Hansen. He served in the US Navy in both WW II and Korea and received several decorations. He was in the aviation industry for many years, retiring as chief inspector for Union Flights in Sacramento, California. He established the aviation program at School of the Ozarks. He was a commercial pilot, a member and examiner of Experimental Aircraft Association, and founder and president of the EAA chapter in Springfield, Missouri. He was a member of Blackhawk Gem and Mineral Club, Moline Horticultural Club, American Legion Post #246, and VFW Post #2153. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed many hobbies, including building scale model ships and boats, mineral collecting, lapidary and silversmithing, photography, computers, flying and gardening.

Bill is survived by four children and their spouses, Cynthia Bevelheimer of Franklinton, Louisiana, William and Donna Hansen of Silvis, Illinois, Charles and Kimberly Hansen of Brighton, Tennessee, and Daniel Hansen of Des Plaines, Illinois; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Hansen.
