William H. Dorward, 84, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Iowa Masonic Health Facilities, Bettendorf.

There will be no public services. Private burial will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Handicapped Development Center, Davenport. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is in charge of arrangements.

William Hannaford Dorward was born September 14, 1929, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Richard and Agnes (Hannaford) Dorward. He married Alice Moss on March 10, 1961, in Davenport, Iowa. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was a former member of Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island, and Moline Lodge #1014, AF & AM. He enjoyed golfing and gymnastics.

Bill is survived by his wife, Alice, a son, Bruce Dorward of Rock Island, a daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and John Soenksen of Bettendorf, a granddaughter, Abigail Soenksen, and a brother, Richard Dorward of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Irwin.
