William G. ?Bill? Ellmaker, 60, of Silvis, Illinois, died Monday, March 18, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport, Iowa.
Private family services will be held, with burial at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the William Ellmaker Memorial Fund. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family.
Bill was born November 2, 1952, in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Glenn and Joan (Shoff) Ellmaker. He was a graduate of Geneseo High School and Kishwaukee College. Bill also attended Northern Illinois University and Southern Illinois University, where he was a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda social fraternity. During his DeKalb years, he was a guitar player for the band ?R & R? and composed many original songs.
In 1977, he married Terri Sanderson in Tacoma, Washington. They later divorced.
Bill served in the United States Army from 1976 to 1980. While stationed in Korea, he auditioned for, and received a part in, the motion picture, ?Oh Inchon?, which was released in 1982 and starred David Janssen and Jacqueline Bisset.
For many years, Bill resided in Chicago and was employed at Timkin Bearing Company in LaGrange, Illinois.
Bill is survived by his mother, Joan Ellmaker of Colona; a sister, Connie Hiatt of Atkinson, Illinois; a brother, Dave Ellmaker (Jackie Killeen) of Colona; a nephew, Rick Hiatt of Moline; and a loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his father and brother-in-law, Richard Hiatt.
