William D. Williams, 71, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Moline, Moline, Illinois.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, with Rev. Tim Carr officiating. Burial is in German Cemetery, Sherrard. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
Bill was born May 14, 1945, in Hardin County, Illinois, to William A. and Viola Lloyd Williams. He married Sharon Borst on July 4, 1966, in Elizabethtown, Illinois. He was an operating engineer with Midwest Operating Engineers Local 150 for 45 years, retiring in 2007. He also worked for Castle Excavating.
He belonged to the NRA, and liked hunting, gardening, old cars and tractors, and his dog Savannah. He was a jack of all trades who enjoyed home improvement projects. Above all else, he loved being with his family, especially antiquing with them.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sharon; a daughter, Heather Williams and Eric Hamerlinck of Milan; sons, Brian and Lisa Williams of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Bradley Williams of Milan; four grandchildren, including Miranda and Alexis Williams; and three siblings, Russell Williams, Lola Harrington, and Faye Holmes. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Pamela Williams, and a brother, Roland Williams.
