William A. Otterness

William A. "Bill" Otterness, 68, of Colona, Illinois, died Thursday, November 23, 2017, at home.

A gathering to celebrate Bill's life will be 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Frank's Pizza in Silvis. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Bill was born February 12, 1949, in East Moline, the son of William and Betty (Goforth) Otterness. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He enjoyed muscle cars and Harley's. He also was a competitive drag racer for several years. Above all else, Bill loved animals, including dogs and horses, and his family.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Johnson, of Rock Island; his partner, Karen Leaf, of Colona, and her daughters, Kristin Mariscal of Gilbert, Arizona, and Tara Leaf of Moline; grandchildren, Kile and Kyah Johnson, and Nick Baird, Tanner and Gemma Paxson, and Gabriel Mariscal; siblings, Peggy Neely of Geneseo, Frank Otterness of Newton, Iowa, Laura Otterness of Milan, and Mary Wood of Michigan; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Otterness and Betty Hicks; and a grandson, Giovanni Mariscal.
