Willard Cogdill, 87, of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, November 10, 2012, in Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Visitation is from 11:30 to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Willard was born May 20, 1925, in Golconda, Illinois, the son of Willis and Etta Hicks Cogdill. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WW II. He married Lois Rizner Coborn on December 10, 1960, in Jacksonville, Illinois. He worked in Quality Control at John Deere Foundry for 28 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of American Legion Post #246, Moline, and a former member of Thor Lodge of Vikings, Moline.
Willard is survived by his wife, Lois; sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Kelli Cogdill of East Moline, Stephen Cogdill of Silvis, Illinois, and Christy Cogdill of Washington, Iowa; a step-son and his wife, Scott and Becky Coborn of Meridian, Mississippi, nine grandchildren, Kyle, Kory, Troy, Eric, Hillary, Jordyn and Ben Cogdill and Missy Housenga; and four great-grandchildren, Kaden and Avery Cogdill and Mia and Mitchell Housenga. He was preceded in death by a son, David Cogdill, a granddaughter, Kasey Cogdill, and two brothers, Hugh Omar Blair and Tracy Cogdill.
