Wanda Virginia Kindred

Port Byron, Illinois Wanda Virginia Kindred, 67, of Port Byron, died Sunday, October 17, 2004, in Big Meadows Eden Alternative Home in Savanna, Illinois, after suffering from Alzheimer's Disease for several years. Joint funeral services with her husband James, who died Thursday, are 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Rock Island, with The Reverend Janet Waychoff officiating. Burial is in National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal, where Moline American Legion will present military honors for Jim. Visitation is one hour before the services at the church. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the church, where she was a member. Wanda Virginia Chambers was born February 16, 1937, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Doris Virginia (Jensen) Chambers. She married James C. Kindred on August 12, 1956, in Rock Island. He died Thursday, October 14, 2004. She helped her husband in several businesses and also worked in real estate and taught personal development classes at Black Hawk College. She enjoyed ceramics, painting and cooking, and her real job was taking care of her family. Wanda is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Jana Kindred of Hampton; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Todd McKenzie of Los Angeles; three grandchildren, Matthew, David, and Emma Kindred; her mother, Doris Chambers of Paxton, Illinois; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Larry Pittard of Paxton; and a brother, Joe Chambers of Milan.
