Wanda M. Yoke

Wanda M. Yoke, 86, passed away on August 28, 2016, at her home in Davenport, Iowa.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Assembly of God, Rock Island. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Wanda was born on September 18, 1929, in Roosevelt, Oklahoma, to Samuel and Anna (Chance) Murphey. She grew up in Davenport. While raising a family, Wanda served as school custodian at Franklin Smart Junior High in Davenport, for 19 years until retiring in 1991.

She married Ronald F. Yoke on August 30, 1945, in Davenport. They were happily married for 18 years. Wanda was a member of, and actively involved in, the El Bethel church, Woman's Aglow, Prayer Chain, and was a Davenport Good Samaritan volunteer. She enjoyed reading, gardening and family. Her laughter and care for others will be missed by all.

Wanda is survived by her children, Jenny Rae, Eldon Yoke, Elzora Lopez and Larry (Paula) Yoke; siblings, Cecil Murphey, Evelyn Lewis and Rose Wade; sister-in-law, Esther Ford; grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; sons, Ronald Jr. and John Yoke; a son-in-law, Ronald Rae; and siblings, Raymond, Melvin and Charles Murphey.
