Wanda's life was profoundly marked by love, both through her marriage to David Deahl on August 28, 1955, in Bartonville, Illinois, and in the dedication she poured into her family and her work. For over 45 years, Wanda displayed an incredible talent for salesmanship, finding her niche in the shoe industry where she not only sold shoes but managed various shoe stores. Her innate ability to connect with people and effortlessly assist multiple customers simultaneously made her not just successful but genuinely cherished by all who crossed her path.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Wanda had a rich tapestry of interests that defined her vibrant spirit. She adored the thrill of Bingo and the camaraderie of bowling, carrying with her a love for sports instilled in her from her younger days. A standout basketball player during her high school years, she found joy in the competitive spirit of the game. As time evolved, so did her hobbies, as she delved into the arts of crocheting, knitting, and the creation of delectable dishes in her kitchen.
An unwavering supporter of college sports, Wanda's heart bled black and gold for the Iowa Hawkeyes, her passion for their games shining brightly in her life. However, amidst all her interests, nothing could compare to the paramount importance she placed on family. For Wanda, the joy of spending time with her loved ones and creating lasting memories with each of them was the truest and most cherished pursuit of her life. She especially loved camping with her family.
Wanda is survived by her beloved husband of over 68 years, David; five children, Michael (Roseanne) Deahl of Davenport, John Deahl of Davenport, Terrie (Chris) Stockbauer of Eldridge, Tracy (David) Shipley of Grand Ridge, Illinois, and Bradley Deahl of Davenport; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two siblings, Gary Buckallew and Joyce Cowan; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Willa Deahl; and siblings, Earl, Jim, Don and Janice.
Wanda Jane Deahl leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and an unyielding commitment to both her family and her community. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
