Walter D. Dismer, 84, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, December 5, 2013, in Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, 601 21st Street, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.
Walter Donald Dismer was born November 2, 1929, in Davenport, Iowa, to Walter and Marie Wagner Dismer. He graduated from Central High School, Davenport, and served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He married Karin Bonninghoff, and they were later divorced. He was a bricklayer by trade, and retired from furnace maintenance at Alcoa. He was a member of Alcoa Retirees Club, and enjoyed hunting.
Walter is survived by three children, Angela Kahler of Los Gatos, California, Tammy Schwenneker of Port Byron, Illinois, and Dondi Dismer of Livermore, California; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings and their spouses, Betty Newcomb of Davenport, Jean and Richard Steelman of Moline, and Wayne and Connie Dismer of Andover, Illinois; cousins, Fred and Chris DePoorter of Moline; and many breakfast friends at Hy-Vee on the Avenue of the Cities in Moline.
