W. Tracy Woods

W. Tracy Woods, 86, of Davenport, Iowa, died Thursday, October 12, 2022, at Senior Star in Davenport.

A hospitality gathering with food and drinks will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022 at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, Illinois. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Family has requested that any memorial donations may be made out to Senior Star Assisted Living for their outstanding care of Tracy. 

Tracy Woods, born October 1, 1936, in Mitchell, South Dakota, was the son of Monroe and Selma (Malde) Woods. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Dakota Wesleyan University where he met the love of his life, Hope Moore. He continued his education, receiving a Master’s Degree in Mathematics. He then married Hope on August 17, 1958 in Mitchell, South Dakota.

Tracy grew up farming in South Dakota on the family property and told funny farming stories to anyone who would listen. First employed at International Harvester for over 20 years, he then worked at United Township High School as a math teacher and coach for over 15 years.

He was a member of Riverside United Methodist in Moline, Illinois and loved belting out hymns in the church choir. In his free time, Tracy enjoyed wood working, playing bridge, and spending time with his family and friends. Tracy also loved offering not-so-quiet advice to referees, energetically cheering on his kids and grandkids, and slinging one-liners. He was particularly proud of his rose garden, which was the talk of the neighborhood.

He is survived by his wife, Hope Woods; children, Dion (Lonny) Firch, Keerstin (Eric) Goebeler, Colin (Paula) Woods; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two brothers.
