Mike ?Cubby? McCubbin, 56, of Moline, Illinois, died suddenly on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, in his residence.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
Michael Wayne McCubbin was born February 25, 1952, in Rock Island, the son of Eugene and Betty (Trask) McCubbin. He was a machine operator in the plate mill at Alcoa since 1994. He was an active member and an officer in United Steelworkers of America Local #105. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a major Chicago Bears fan, enjoyed riding his motorcycle, loved his regular spot at the Bel-Grade, and spending time with his children.
Mike is survived by his mother, Betty McCubbin, and his grandmother, Elsie Wright, both of Naples, Florida; four children, Shane McCubbin and Corey McCubbin, both of Milan, Illinois, Brittany McCubbin of Moline, and Brandon McCubbin of Eldridge, Iowa; five grandchildren; and six siblings and their spouses, Cheryl and Terry Thompson of Geneseo, Illinois, Gene and Brenda McCubbin of Dewey, Arizona, Michele and Terry Hileman of Aledo, Illinois, Tony and Cheryl McCubbin of Erie, Illinois, Brian and Wanda McCubbin of Tiffin, Iowa, and Tammy McCubbin of Freeport, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Cindy McCubbin.
