Robert W. Hagen, 93, of Silvis, Illinois, formerly of Pleasant Plains, Illinois, died Monday, February 28, 2011, in Aspen Rehab and Health Care Center, Silvis.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Coal Valley. Visitation is 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Memorials may be made to the church. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, is assisting the family.
Robert William Hagen was born October 19, 1917, in Jacksonville, Illinois, the son of Frederick and Alma (Graff) Hagen. He married Russella Mae Lane on June 6, 1948, in Chandlerville, Illinois. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Bob worked for Capitol Automotive and Quincy Automotive in Springfield, Illinois, as a car parts salesman, retiring in 1993. He also farmed at many points in his life. Church was a very important part of his life. He served in many capacities and was very active St. John?s Lutheran Church in Pleasant Plains, which later became Zion Lutheran Church. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and loved his dog, Duchess.
Bob is survived by his wife, Russella, of Silvis; sons and daughters-in-law, Reverend Robert and Vicki Hagen of Coal Valley, and Daniel and Rosemary Hagen of State College, Pennsylvania; daughters and sons-in-law, Melody and Tommie Stoner of Afton, Iowa, Karen and Monte Dickhut of Camp Point, Illinois, and Anita and William Million of Sidney, Illinois; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, F.W. Hagen and Elwill Hagen, and a sister, Dorothy Willis.
