George W. Fetters, Jr., 71, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, December 4, 2008, in Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Homewood Evangelical Free Church, Moline. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to the church, where he was a member, for missionary work. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is in charge of arrangements.
George Willis Fetters was born August 7, 1937, in Wheeler, Michigan, the son of George and Lila (Wolfgang) Fetters. He married Sharon Medlock on June 1, 1962, in Rock Island. He served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves from 1960 to 1966. He was a self-employed contractor and carpenter, operating George Fetters Remodeling until retiring in 1994.
George was very active in the Civil War re-enactment as a member of the Reactivated 12th Illinois Infantry. He loved old cars and doing woodcarving.
George is survived by his wife, Sharon; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Carolyn Fetters of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Larry and Marge Fetters of Howe, Indiana; and Sharon?s sisters and their husbands, Janet and Leon Jackson of Kansas City, Kansas, Susan and Robert Harrison of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Phyllis and Gerald Leseberg and Rebecca Ledford, all of Omaha, Nebraska; and their families.
