Jack W. Duncan, 85, of East Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, January 19, 2008, in Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley, Illinois.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Heart Association.
Jack Wendell Duncan was born August 7, 1922, in New Boston, Illinois, the son of Victoria (Terry) and Riley Duncan. He served in the U. S. Army during WW II. He married Dorothy Levena Turley on October 23, 1948, in Galesburg, Illinois. He was employed by Moline School District #40 as a school custodian for 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Moline American Legion Post #246, and enjoyed horseshoe pitching and fishing.
Jack is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Richard and Beverly Duncan of Bettendorf, Iowa, David and Vicki Duncan of West Plains, Missouri, and Dian Duncan of Geneseo, Illinois; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Lynette and Jim Blaser, Debra and Ronald Wheeler, Lisa and Johnny Etter, Kimberly Hill, Matthew Duncan, Michael Camery, Jennifer and Mark Riggins, Scott Brockmeyer, and Amy Sargent; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry A. Duncan; four brothers, Floyd, Ross, Paul and Terry Duncan; and three sisters, Helen McAdams, Irene Markley, and Virginia Short.
