Coal Valley, Illinois Virginia H. Blackman, 83, of Coal Valley, died Friday, December 27, 2002, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. The Reverend Dr. Paul Frahm will officiate. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Moline, or Oak Glen Home Auxiliary, Coal Valley. The former Virginia Helen Treffert was born September 22, 1919, in Salem, Illinois, the daughter of Edward and Sarah (Branch) Treffert. She married Herbert Blackman on June 11, 1938, in Morrison, Illinois. He died January 31, 1989. She was a member of First Christian Church, Moline, and had been active in Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and PTA. She had a flair for the arts, and loved music, playing the piano, and writing poetry, some of which has been published. She enjoyed collecting miniature shoes. Virginia is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Karen Blackman of Coal Valley; a daughter and son-in-law, Dianna Jo and Jerry Bambauer of Coal Valley; six grandchildren and their spouses, Kelly and Allen Oliver, Drew and Linda Blackman, Steve and Jenifer Anderson, Shannon Bambauer, Daniel and Joleen Bambauer, and Nicholas and Mary Beth Bambauer; and ten great-grandchildren, Spencer, Sydney, and Sawyer Blackman, Tony Oliver, Morgan and Max Anderson, Hailie and Hunter Bambauer, and Kiah and Logan Bambauer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son, Paul, and brothers, Lester and Henry Treffert.
