Violet Powers

Violet Powers, 87, of Davenport, Iowa, died Monday, October 10, 2016, at St. Mary Heath Care and Rehab Center, Davenport.

Visitation is 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, followed by a brief service at 6:00 p.m. Private burial is in Highland Cemetery in Mystic, Iowa.

She was born August 10, 1929, in Mystic, the daughter of Otis and Margaret Wales. She married Kenneth Powers. He died September 30, 1973.

Violet was a wonderful cook and was always the life of the party. She enjoyed being with friends, and was "mom" and "grandma" to many outside her family. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by five children, Kenny and Phyllis Powers of Florida, Delbert "Dean" and Cindy Powers, Ricky Powers, Gary Powers, and Sharon Powers, all of Davenport; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers.
