Violet M. Hintermeister of Preemption, Illinois, died Thursday, May 4, 2006, in Genesis Medical Center Illini Campus, Silvis.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in Preemption United Methodist Church, with The Reverend Thomas Wright officiating. Burial is in Preemption Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley. Memorials may be made to Diabetes Association.

The former Violet Mary Britton was born in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Percy and Ruth (South) Britton. She married Donald Brooks on November 12, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa. He died November 28, 1955. She married David A. Hintermeister on December 1, 1956, in Preemption, He died August 20, 1993.

She was an active member of Preemption United Methodist Church, and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Rock Island. She loved her family and church, and enjoyed painting, flowers and her beloved animals. Violet had the most wonderful outlook on life. When most people gave off the essence of Ben-Gay, she gave off the essence of Arpege.

Violet is survived by three children and their spouses, Ruthann and Willard Wahlberg of Milan, Patricia and John Anderson of Coal Valley, and David L. and Peggy Hintermeister of Duluth, Minnesota; three grandchildren and their spouses, Kathleen and Robert Brennan of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Tracy and Kent Delperdang of Springville, California, and Bryan and Debra Wahlberg of Algonquin, Illinois, and nine great-grandchildren, Katie, Megan, Sarah, Tommy, and Bobby Brennan, Molly and Jill Delperdang, and Breanna and Branden Wahlberg; and a special friend, Millie Black of Rock Island. She was preceeded in death by a son, David Bryan Hintermeister.
