Cambridge, Illinois Viola V. Carlson, 83, formerly of Cambridge, Illinois, died Thursday, August 15, 2002, in Hillcrest Home, Geneseo. Memorial services are 2 p.m. Monday at Cambridge Lutheran Church. The Reverend Lynn Bergren will officiate. Private burial will be in Moline Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at the church one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Home, Geneseo. Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The former Viola Verna Ankrum was born March 13, 1919, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Oscar and Hilda (Johnson) Ankrum. She married Lowell B. Carlson in 1940 in Kahoka, Missouri. She was a licensed practical nurse. She was president of the Hillcrest Home Resident Council, a member of Cambridge Lutheran Church and the Cambridge Senior Citizens Club, and a former member of the Henry County Humane Society. Viola is survived by five children and their spouses, Ronald and Ruth Ann Carlson of Rock Island, Kenneth and Diane Carlson of Moline, Karen and Edward VanQuathem of Moline, Kathleen Murphy of Cambridge, and Gayelene and Bruce Johnson of Cambridge; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Myrtle Versluys of Moline; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Norman and Betty Berg Jr. of Rock Island, and Richard and Dorothy Berg of Milan.
