Vernon L. Bein, Jr., 71, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Friday, September 6, 2024, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.

Visitation is 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Private burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Vernon Leroy Bein, Jr. was born August 25, 1953, in Moline, the son of Vernon L. and Catherine (Hueser) Bein. He married Marla “Kim” Sullens on September 30, 1978, in Moline. 

Vern worked for John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline, Illinois, for 42 ½ years, and was a proud member of UAW. He enjoyed biking, listening to music, and his Tuesday night bowling league. He was also an avid sports fan, especially of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Fighting Illini. 

He is survived by his wife, Kim; three siblings, Stephen (Cathy) Bein, Marilyn Harper and Mary Bein, and their families; his mother-in-law, Gereldine Sullens; sisters-in-law, Terry (Rick) Mathias, and Bobbie (Earl) Fox; and nieces and nephews, Angie (Bill) Mauch, Niki (Mark) Pearson, Lindsey Wilda, and Jason Fox, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Linda Tillman; and father-in-law, Larry Sullens.
