Verna L. Beckman

Verna L. Beckman, 94, of Rock Island, Illinois, formerly of Moline, Illinois, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, 1201 13th Street, Moline. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Memorial Fund at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is entrusted with arrangements.

The former Verna Lois Rodgers was born September 21, 1916, in Moline, the daughter of Guy and Bertha Simcox Rodgers. She graduated from Moline High School in 1934, and married Ingvar C. Beckman on September 11, 1940, in Moline. He died December 17, 1992.

She was employed in the auditing department of Modern Woodmen of America for 22 years, retiring in 1979. She was a long-time active member of Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, Moline.

Verna is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara Jones and Ruth Ann and Graham Rogeness, all of San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Ida Mae and Charles Dunham of Whitney, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Loyal Rodgers.
