Trinidad Cruz Escamilla, 75, of Milan, Illinois, died Sunday, January 21, 2007, in Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, surrounded by his family.
Services are 9:30 a.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, and 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary?s Catholic Church, Moline, Illinois, with The Reverend Jerry Pilon officiating. Visitation is 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where there will be a short remembrance service at 3:00 p.m., led by Reverend Ignacio Nevarez of Templo Elim Church, Moline. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family.
Mr. Escamilla was born August 4, 1931, in Salvaterra, GTO, Mexico, the son of Trinidad Cruz and Maria Escamilla De-Cruz. He married Theresa Lujan on November 27, 1971, in Davenport, Iowa. He worked for Davenport Packing for 18 years. Following retirement, he worked for an upholstery store in Rock Island, Illinois.
Trinidad was a member of Word of Life Church in Rock Island. He enjoyed watching John Wayne and other western movies, watching soccer and baseball, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed going to Happy Joes for pizza and McDonald?s for coffee. One of his favorite things to do was gardening. He loved growing peppers, tomatoes, and peaches.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Louise and Jeffery Yungen, Sr. of Coal Valley, Illinois; grandchildren, Jeffery Yungen, Jr., and Leilani and Shilo Yungen; a brother and sister-in-law, Luz and Glafira Cruz of Moline; a brother and sister in Mexico; and 114 nieces and nephews along with their spouses. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.
