Thomas R. Scott, Sr., 88, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, August 25, 2016, in his home.
Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Masonic funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. followed by a prayer service and time of sharing. Friends are invited to join the family at a funeral luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe immediately following the services. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Scottish Rite Almoner's Fund.
Thomas Robert Scott was born December 6, 1927, in Centerville, Illinois, to Robert and Jessie (Kinkade) Scott. He graduated from Powersville, Missouri, High School, and married Bobbie C. Robinson on March 25, 1950, in Galesburg. He was an over-the-road truck driver for Case International for 29 years. He was a proud Teamster for 41 years, and earned a two million mile safety award. An active Mason, he was Past Master of Clement Lodge #680, AF & AM, Colona, and a member of Silvis Lodge #898, London Lodge #848, Doric Lodge #319, Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Moline, and Order of Eastern Star in Colona. He was instrumental in establishing the Frank P. Green Chapter, Order of DeMolay, in Colona.
Tom is survived by his wife, Bobbie; three children and spouses, Necia Ries of Moline, Tom Jr. "Scottie" and Ora Scott of Davenport, Iowa, and Phillip and Sharon Scott of Woodhaven. Michigan; six grandchildren and spouses, Karrie and Joe Powers, Kathy and Cary David, Jennifer Scott, Kaylie Bradshaw, Tracy Kolb, and Brandon Scott; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Bonnie Burress of Bloomfield, Iowa, and Phyllis Gill of Davenport, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jack Ries, two sisters, and one brother.
