Services for Thomas C. Walsh, 76, of Coal Valley, are 11 a.m. Saturday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. The Reverend Paul Pett of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan, Illinois will officiate. Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home from 3 to 7 pm. Private Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. Memorials may be given to Mid-America Paleontology Society (Maps) where he served as a Director. Mr. Walsh died Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at Trinity Medical Center, Moline, Illinois. Thomas Charles Walsh was born September 15, 1926 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of Robert and Alma (Sandherr) Walsh. Mr. Walsh served in the United States Army during World War II. He married Peggy Stoffer on October 11, 1952 in Davenport, Iowa. Mr. Walsh was employed as a Systems Analyst at the Rock Island Arsenal retiring in 1984 after 30 years of employment. Tom was a wonderful husband and father, enjoying his children and grandchildren. He was the family handyman and craftsman. He enjoyed life to the fullest. Was a lover of nature, the outdoors, gardening, collecting rocks and fossils, antiques, hiking, camping, and joining his good friends from the Corn Crib Nursery who shared in many of his hobbies. Survivors for Mr. Walsh include; his wife, Peggy; three daughters, and sons-in-law, Cindy Walsh of Coal Valley, Jennie and Wayne Cook of Rock Island, Illinois, and Laurie and Phil Converse of Alpha, Illinois; a son, Tim Walsh of Moline; seven grandchildren; his twin sister, Anne Dane of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Wendy Walsh of Apple Valley, California.
