Tharon Jean Leech 82, of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday July 14 at Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Union Congregational Church, 1811 53rd Street, Moline, with The Reverend Randy Heckman officiating. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Estates, Moline. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.
The former Tharon Jean Guild was born on March 23, 1930, in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Ione Adella (Hanson) and Alexander A. Guild. She graduated an honor student and Class Valedictorian from Moline High School in 1948, and after graduation she worked for the Moline Board of Education, Allendale. She married John R. Leech on September 4, 1949, at The First Congregational Church, Moline. John preceded her in death on November 17, 2006, after 56 years of marriage. She was office manager for Gilbert E Leech Construction Co., Moline, for many years.
Tharon was a long time member of Union Congregational Church, Moline, where she belonged to A-Dettes, and was a faithful member of the church choir which she loved. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. As a devoted grandma, she attended countless school and sports events. Her kitchen bulletin board was always full of her grandchildren?s achievements. And, she simply adored her great-granddaughter Annabel. She loved to spend time with her family. She loved to read, sew, work in her flower bed and play cards, and was an avid bridge player. In their younger years, she and John belonged to Rural Youth and loved to square dance. They also enjoyed many camping adventures in the RV.
Tharon is survived by daughters and a son-in-law, Johnna Lee Jump and Beth Ann Latta, both of San Diego, California, and Lisa and Ronald Paquette of West Burke, Vermont; a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Nancy Leech of Moline; grandchildren, Ammon Paquette and his wife Callyn, Ethan Paquette, Brianna Paquette, Jacob Leech and his wife Erica, and Nicholas Latta; a great-granddaughter, Annabel Paquette; a sister, Grace Franck of Rock Island; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and Shirley Guild and Leonard and Barbara Guild, all of Alpha, Illinois; and many nephews and nieces and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, and granddaughter Amanda Leech..
