Tara S.Gates was born on January 7, 1972, in Silvis, Illinois, to Laymon “Dean” and Susan (Rice) Carroll. Her creativity blossomed into sublimation projects, a hobby she cherished until her health declined. She also loved to travel—especially memorable was her trip to Australia, where she formed her life long friendship with Mandy Shaw. She is survived by her devoted husband, David; her mother, Susan Carroll; brother, Aaron (Lisa) Carroll; aunt, Debbie Raines; great-aunts, Glenda Wilson and Ann Rice; niece and nephews, Connor Carroll, Nathan Carroll, Danae (Chris) Rivet, and Elizabeth (Nathan) Clark; great-nephew, Elliot Rivet; best friend, Mandy Shaw; godson, Tyler (Rihanna) Ott; and many dear cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Laymon Carroll; grandparents, Marge and Froy Rice; uncle, Ronald Raines; great-uncles, Richard Wilson and Abraham Rice; and several other aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins.

Tara will be remembered for her kind heart, artistic flair, and the love she gave so freely to those around her.
