T. W. ?Bill? Meinholdt, 69, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at his home.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to the Tony Stewart Foundation, 5644 W. 74th St., Indianapolis, IN 46278, where he recently donated his model racecar collection.
Thurly William Meinholdt was born June 4, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Robert Charles and Bernice Louise Eilers Meinholdt. He married Rita Sharon Wagoner Hurry on July 10, 1976, in Moline. She died May 30, 2008.
He was an appliance repairman for Sears for 25 years, retiring in 2008, and previously worked for John Deere Harvester Works. An avid NASCAR fan, he was a member of the Riviera Car Club, and enjoyed antique cars and traveling in his RV from Alaska to Florida.
Bill is survived by three children, Robert Meinholdt of Sherman, Texas, Beth Meinholdt and her husband JJ Bombassero of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Barb Scott and her husband Jamie of Coal Valley; step-children, Christine Christensen and her husband Chuck and Karen Cain, all of Wellington, Florida, and Stacy Hurry and his partner Dr. Troy Roeder of Moline; ten grandchildren; and his sister and brother-in-law, Bertie and Kenneth Ballou of Rochester, New York. He was preceded in death by his wife and step-son, Dennis Hurry.
