T. Robert Thomas, of Moline, Illinois, retired Deere and Company Executive, died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, in Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Private family services will be held at a later date. The body will be cremated and the ashes interred in Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Thomas Robert Thomas was born April 18, 1920, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Dr. Thomas Heathcote and Ola Elizabeth Vickerman Thomas. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Agronomy. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WW II. He married Loie Tufty on July 19, 1947, in Excelsior, Minnesota. Bob was employed at Deere and Company for 33 years, retiring as Director of Marketing for the Sales Branches in 1980.
He was an outdoors sportsman and especially enjoyed duck hunting. He loved spending time at his vacation home on Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, and fishing in Belize for many years.
Bob is survived by his wife, Loie; three children, T. Norman Thomas and his wife Connie of Omaha, Nebraska, Gary R. Thomas and his wife Laura Patty of Homer, Alaska, and Martha Twarkins and her husband William of Falls Church, Virginia; and six grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, Mica, Mariah, Stephen and Vanessa. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
