Joan T. Robbins, 77, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, March 17, 2008, in Trinity Pathway Hospice at Terrace Park, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Private burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. In leiu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or to the First Church of Christ Scientist, Moline, where she was a member.
The former Joan Thompson was born August 19, 1930, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Robert George and Ruth (Anderson) Thompson. She married Herbert Dean Robbins on July 3, 1953, in Clear Lake, Iowa.
Joan graduated with a degree in Speech and Dramatics from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois. She taught in the English department at Moline High School for five years before becoming a substitute teacher in the district for 25 years.
She was a member of PEO, and enjoyed classical music and attending plays and musicals of all kinds. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Joan is survived by her husband of 54 years, a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kathy Robbins, and grandsons, Tyler and Austin Robbins, all of Bettendorf, Iowa, and a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Bill Leety of Fort Meyers, Florida.
