Alice Kennedy, 82, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Thursday, August 4, 2011, in Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, Illinois.
Services are 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital.
The former Alice Ann Davis was born April 15, 1929, in Silvis, Illinois, the daughter of John and Edna (Pomeroy) Davis. She married Donald Arthur Kennedy on November 23, 1946, in Rock Island, Illinois. He died July 18, 1992.
She worked for the former Illinois Bell as a switchboard operator before her children were born. She was a member of the Coal Valley Fire Auxiliary, the Coal Valley Lions Club, and volunteered at Oak Glen Home. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family.
Alice is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Vicki Kennedy of Chicago, and John and Roxanne Kennedy of Rock Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Chuck Stevenson of Silvis; seven grandchildren and a step-grandson; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Karen Davis of Moline, a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and John Schmid of Dubuque, Iowa; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Shirley and Wally Seyb of Rock Island.
