Kelly Suzanne Murphy, 47, of Sterling Heights, Michigan, formerly of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Monday, January 3, 2011, in her home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial fund will be established in her name.
Kelly was born May 26, 1963, in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of John and Rita Mae Graver Murphy. She graduated with a degree in journalism from Western Illinois University, and served in the U. S. Air Force from 1986 to 1990. She was a technical writer for TACOM at the Warren, Michigan, Arsenal, and previously worked at the Rock Island Arsenal. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews, and enjoyed traveling and scrap booking.
Kelly is survived by her father, Jack Murphy of Coal Valley; siblings and their spouses, Debra and James Quillin of Coal Valley, Mary Anne Murphy of Chicago, and Michael and Lorrie Murphy of Coal Valley; nieces and nephews and their spouses, James Quillin, Joshua and Olivia Quillin, Jessica and Carl Spoljoric, and Jessica Hines; and great-nieces and great-nephew, Allyssa, Tayler, and Jordan. She was preceded in death by her mother.
