Susan P. Cartwright

Susan P. Cartwright, 74, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Monday, December 21, 2020, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.

Private burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, where she as a member.

The former Susan Jane Procopio was born February 19, 1946, in Mt. Holly, New Jersey, the daughter of James and Joan (Hammond) Procopio.

She served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps at Ft. Ord, California, and the 71st Evac Hospital in the Republic of Viet Nam. She married Robert F. Cartwright on December 19, 1970. She left active duty in 1973 and was mobilized in support of Iraq, headquartered at 75th Division at Ft. Sheridan. She retired as LTC in the Army Reserves in 2006.

Susan loved all of God’s creations and shared her love and compassion with everyone she met.

She is survived by three sons, Jason (Patricia) Cartwright of Libertyville, Illinois, Charles Cartwright of Coal Valley, and James (Jennifer) Cartwright of East Moline; five grandchildren, Nathan, Thomas, Matthew, Alexandra and Adam; and siblings, Carol McKeever, David Procopio, James Procopio, and Michael Procopio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and firstborn son, Robbie.
