Sonia G. Nimrick, 74, of Silvis, Illinois, died Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.
A hospitality gathering to celebrate Sonia’s life will be Noon to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Private burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory.
The former Sonia Gulley was born December 4, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of James and Olga (Tzeplaeff) Gulley. She graduated from Moline High School in 1969 and the University of Northern Illinois in 1974. She married Steven Nimrick on April 3, 1982, in Preemption, Illinois, and the couple was blessed with two sons.
She worked over 37 years at John Deere and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline, serving on the Church Council. She volunteered as an advisor and teacher for Junior Achievement and for many years at the John Deere Classic. She enjoyed reading and nurturing the relationships she had with numerous friends, fellow church members, co-workers and her family.
Sonia is survived by her husband, Steven; two sons, Matt Nimrick of Lone Tree, Colorado, and Nathan Nimrick of Redwood City, California; her father, James Gulley of Silvis, Illinois; her brother, Jim (Judy) Gulley of North Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Olga Gulley.
