Shirley M. Phillips

Shirley M. Phillips, 84, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Tuesday, September 15, 2015, in UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.

Services are 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with Fr. Chase Hilgenbrinck officiating. Cremation will follow at Trimble Crematory. Visitation is one hour before the services. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family at a funeral luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe. Memorials may be made to the family.

The former Shirley Mae Hansen was born June 3, 1931, in Moline, to Harry and Gertrude (Schmiers) Hansen. She operated Shirley's Home Care in Kewanee, Illinois, for 24 years, and was known for compassionate care-giving for her patients. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline. She loved caring for people, both professionally and personally, and enjoyed farming, collecting elephants and visiting the riverboats.

Shirley is survived by five children and their spouses, Maye Wates of Kewanee, Sharon and Jack Olds of Rock Island, Julie and Larry Neels of Kewanee, Susan Daulton of Rock Island, and Joann and Brad Stribling of Coal Valley; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Harry Hansen of Moline, and Betty Smith of Peoria. She was preceded in death by three sons, Frank, Bob, and Billy Stablein, and siblings, Darlene Peterson and Earl Hansen.
