December 30, 1953 — February 17, 2023

Sharon Paulette (Goodwin) Dixon, 69, of Moline, Illinois, passed away February 17 at Allure of the Quad Cities, Moline.

Sharon was a beloved mother, sister, teacher, youth worker and friend to many. She was born in rural Annawan, Illinois on December 30, 1953 to Paul Edward Goodwin and Lois Eileen (Johnson) Goodwin. She married Dennis W. Dixon on June 14, 1980. He preceded her in death in 2011.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 23, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Sharon’s memory (funds will go to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities in honor her father and brother, Terry’s military service, and to a scholarship fund for her grandsons).

Sharon grew up in Geneseo, Illinois and graduated from J. D. Darnall High School in 1972. She received a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education from Western Illinois University. She taught at Hoover Elementary School, Bettendorf for 24 years as a media center specialist and teacher of talented and gifted and was a substitute teacher and Para for the Moline Schools after her retirement.

Sharon fought Breast Cancer for 24 years and was the strongest, most courageous and bravest women most of us knew. She never let the disease define her and she lived life to the fullest taking care of her family, friends and her beloved dog, Sadie, until the end. She loved her Savior and Lord with her whole heart and lived her life as a servant to others.

The family would like to thank Dr. Constantinou, Heather and Megan and the whole staff at the Trinity Infusion Center. You not only helped her to live but you were her friends and family in the last years. No one could have treated her with more respect or honored her more. She finally got to ring the bell of finishing cancer treatments. Thank you to her many friends who taught with her, did youth group and church with her, high school classmates and many more who cheered her on and supported her in her life. She always had a smile and helping hand for everyone.

Sharon leaves behind her daughters, Denise Norlene (Richard) Clark of Moline, Mary Louise Dixon, Moline and Paula Ann Dixon, Moline. Grandsons Aaron Alexander Clark and Zachary Lucas Clark. Siblings Terry (Joyce) Goodwin, Herscher, Larry (Linda) Goodwin, Geneseo and twin sister Karen (Richard) Mowers, Geneseo and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
