Sharon Meinholdt, 69, of Coal Valley, died Friday, May 30, 2008, in Trinity Pathway Hospice at Terrace Park, Bettendorf, Iowa, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley. Visitation is 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Private burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice, the Rock Island County Animal Care & Control in Moline, or the American Cancer Society.
The former Rita Sharon Wagoner was born July 4, 1938, in Moline, the daughter of Fred and Ruby (Bridgeford) Wagoner. She married Dennis Hurry. She married Bill Meinholdt on July 10, 1976, in Moline, Illinois.
Sharon owned and operated ?Benchmark Uphostery? and later worked as receptionist for Dr. Troy Roeder.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Humane?s Society. She loved to read, enjoyed watching trees, birds and other animals, and opera and classical music. Simply put, she was good to other people. She enjoyed spending time with her high school friends and traveling in her RV. Most of all, she loved all her children and was one of the best Mothers.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Bill; and children, Dennis Hurry of Colona, Illinois, Christine (Chuck) Christensen of Wellington, Florida, Karen Cain of Wellington, and Stacy (Troy Roeder) Hurry of Moline; step-children, Robert (Sandra) Meinholdt of Sherman, Texas, Beth (J.J. Bombassero) Meinholdt of Fort Myers, Florida, and Barbara (Jamie) Scott of Rio, Illinois; and ten grandchildren. She was preceded in death two brothers and one sister.
