Sharon L. Hicks

Sharon L. Hicks, 76, of Winter Haven, Florida, formerly of Moline and Colona, Illinois, died Sunday, June 16, 2024.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 24, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, immediately followed by a funeral luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Sharon Lee Huffman was born March 8, 1948, in Adair County, Missouri, to Eugene and Eudema (Overstreet) Huffman. She graduated from Moline High School in 1966 and married the love of her life, Geoffrey Hicks on October 4, 1969, in Moline.

She earned her beautician’s license from Sterling Cosmetology School in Moline and worked as a beautician before working alongside her mother at Eudema’s Interiors. She went on to manage Fantastic Sams in East Moline. She finished her working career at Moline National Bank, all the while continuing her work in interior design, custom sewing and drapes, and wallpapering.

After retiring, Sharon and Geoff moved to New Mexico for several years before settling in Florida. The couple had a shared love of cars, taking part in road rallies and auto crosses together. She enjoyed bowling in more recent years, competing in a state tournament in Florida. 

Sharon is survived by her husband, Geoffrey; son, Andrew Hicks of Moline; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Hicks of Port Byron, granddaughter, Abigail “Abby” Hicks of Port Byron; sister, Susan (Rick) Riggs of Moline; and several nieces and nephews, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Patrick Hicks; and brothers, Larry and Dwight Huffman.
