Sara Jane Larson, 90, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Saturday, May 27, 2017, in the Silver Cross Pavilion at Friendship Manor in Rock Island.
A service of celebration and remembrance will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2017, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory and Sara and her husband Frank, who died December 23, 1987, will be interred together at Rock Island National Cemetery on Arsenal Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friendship Manor or UnityPoint Hospice.
The former Sara Jane Porter was born April 20, 1927, in Ottawa, Illinois, to Frances Eliza Wade Porter and Fred John Porter. Sara married Frank Richard Larson June21, 1947, in Aurora, Illinois, and raised their daughters, Kathryn and twins Karen and Sharon, there. She was also known as Sara or Sarajane during her life. Sara was a very talented artist, enjoying golf and her garden; but the love for her family was her greatest joy. She joined Moline Chapter #258, Order of Eastern Star, Mary Little Deere Chapter of DAR, and the Red Hats Plum Pretty Purple Princesses.
Survivors include her daughters, their spouses and families: Kathryn and William Duy and their two daughters, Heather and David Baitman and Michelle and Adam Dalson and their daughter Vega Dalson; Karen and John Masus and son Zachary and Rebecca Speck and their children Katelyn and Ryan Speck; and Sharon and Robert Pierce and their two sons, Joshua and Renee Pierce and their children Willow and Sequoia Pierce and Brian and Jamie Pierce and their twins Aiden and Ella, and Evelyn Pierce. She was preceded in death by her husband and brother and sister-in-law, Fred George and Mary Porter.
