Sally R. Newsom

Silvis, Illinois Sally R. Newsom, 74, of Silvis, died Thursday, January 1, 2004, in Parkview Terrace Health Care Center, East Moline. Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. There is no visitation. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. The former Sally Rae Evans was born December 8, 1929, in Indiana Harbor, Indiana, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (McKinney) Evans. She married John R. Newsom on December 31, 1949, in Quincy, Illinois, and they were later divorced. She was a case worker for the Illinois Department of Public Aid for 15 years, retiring in 1991. She had been active in Young Republicans and the Republican Party, and enjoyed needlepoint, reading, pastels and ceramics. Sally is survived by a daughter, Kathy Newsom of Moline, and a brother and sister-in-law, William and Rose Evans, of El Cajon, California.
