Sally A. Sohner, 82, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Sunday, April 14, 2019, in Silver Cross Pavilion at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at First Congregational Church, 2201 7th Avenue, Moline, with The Rev. Michael Swartz officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the services. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church, Friendship Manor, or Knights Templar Club in Summit Lake, Wisconsin. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is entrusted with arrangements.
Sally was born July 18, 1936, in Moline, to Ezra H. Jr. and Marguerite (Seifert) Sohner. She graduated from the University of Illinois and worked for the US Army and American Red Cross in Germany and Vietnam. She later received her nursing degree from Case Western Reserve University and her Masters in nursing from the University of Alabama, and was a nurse with Genesis Visiting Nurses and Genesis Hospice. She was a member of First Congregational Church and King's Daughters. She enjoyed fishing, reading, hiking, canoeing, traveling, and spending time with her many friends. She especially loved the six long haired dachshunds she had over her life.
Sally is survived by her sister, Nancy Gibson of Rock Island; and nieces, Heather Allen of Lake Lotawanna, Missouri, Jennifer Ringgold of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Jennifer Gibson of Independence, Missouri, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, E. H. Sohner III, and a nephew, Scott Gibson.
