Sadie Murphy

Sadie Murphy, 82, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Sunday, October 11, 2015, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island.

Services are 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island Memorial Park. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Memorials may be made to the family.

The former Sadie McGhee was born March 17, 1933, in Pope, Mississippi, the daughter of Darshan and Annie Mae (Harris) McGhee. She married James Murphy in Hernando, Mississippi. He died December 13, 1992.

She spent many years working for Walker Royal on the Rock Island Arsenal and Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island. She was a member of People's Missionary Baptist Church, Rock Island.

Sadie is survived by three children, Powell and Prince McGhee, Lawrence McGhee, Sr., and Betty and William Thomas, all of Rock Island; many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Hayward "Louis" McGhee of Bettendorf, Iowa, Billy and Ruth McGhee, Michael and Joyce McGhee, Cecil and Patricia McGhee, Robert and Willie McGhee, Lottie and John Davis, Annie "Lulu" Dandridge, Shirley Ann McGhee, Linda Kay Neely, Betty McGhee, Sharon McGhee, Yvonne Thompson, and Betty McGhee, all of Memphis, Tennessee, Annie "Eltha" and Willie Euell, Cora Talley, and Letha and Kenneth Brown, , all of Rock Island; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Murphy, brothers, Joseph Dalton, Johnny McGhee, Michael McGhee, Earm McGhee, and Milton "Bobby" McGhee, and a daughter, Valerie Campbell Murphy.
