Ruth Warren Tischer

Rock Island, Illinois Ruth Warren Tischer, 82, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, January 14, 2003, in Heartland Health Care Center, Moline. Private funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. The Reverend Edward Borycz will officiate. Burial is in Rock Island Memorial Park. Public visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First United Presbyterian Church, Moline, Alzheimer's Association, or the Salvation Army. The former Ruth Viola Witt was born April 22, 1920, in Rock Island, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Oberstallera) Witt. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1938. She married Clarence Warren on December 26, 1941, in Moline. He died February 2, 1983. She married Norman Tischer on April 25, 1987, in Moline. During WW II, she worked in the office at Servus Rubber Company, and later was secretary at John Deere Junior High School for 10 years. She was an active member of First United Presbyterian Church, Moline, where she played the piano and taught Sunday School. She was a member of Gold Star Mothers and Kings' Daughters. Ruth is survived by her husband, Norman; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Rita Anne Warren of Moline; two grandchildren, Michael Warren and Kristin Warren; five step-children and their spouses, Pat and James Maynard of Rock Island, Robert and Sharon Smith of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Tom and Gail Smith of Douglas, Georgia, Margaret and William Lorentzen of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Richard Tischer of Rock Island; 15 step-grandchildren; and 13 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; a son, Michael Warren, who was killed in the Vietnam War; a step-daughter, Pat Ehrhardt; and two sisters, Rose Marie Baron and Elizabeth Bell.
