Rock Island, Illinois Ruth Seaberg Crowe, 101, of Rock Island, died Thursday, September 16, 2004, in Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline, Arrowhead Ranch, Coal Valley, or P.E.O. Educational Fund. Ruth Severina Seaberg was born September 22, 1902, in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Severin and Hanna (Freeberg) Seaberg. She graduated from Augustana College and took advanced secretarial training. She married Charles J Crowe on September 8, 1931, in Chicago. He died June 14, 2003. Prior to her marriage, she was secretary for the former Harrington-Seaberg Fire Alarm and Telegraph Company which later became the Eagle Signal Corporation, of which her father was co-founder and president. Earlier, she was secretary at Northwestern University in the former Scientific Crime Detection Laboratory at McClintock Campus in Chicago, and also worked for the City of Chicago State Street Council as secretary. Ruth was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline, a member of Moline Woman's Club for over 50 years and served as treasurer for four years, and a former member of the Woman's Club Garden Department #5. She was a member and past president of the former Emma Kough Circle of King's Daughters and a member of Katherine Butterworth Circle. She received a citation for 40 years of King's Daughters Service. She was a life member and former board president of the Moline Y. W. C. A., a life member of the Davenport Outing Club, and a member of Chapter BL of P.E.O. Sisterhood, Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club, National Federation of Republican Women, Rock Island County Historical Society, Putnam Museum, and Moline Literary Guild. She was an avid Bridge player and played in many groups. She loved and was loved by her family who survive her. They are nieces and nephews, Dick and Wanda Seaberg of Lubbock, Texas; JoAnne and Dave Lund of Mesa, Arizona; Bill and Ida Seaberg of Evergreen, Colorado; and George and Sue Seaberg of Bettendorf, Iowa, and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers, Carl and Reuben Seaberg, and a niece, Betty Jane Seaberg Hooker.
